Whitestack Establishes the First Sylva Network Function Validation Center in the Americas

Santiago, Chile, July 29, 2026 — Whitestack, a Latin American leader in building cloud infrastructure based on open technologies, announces the launch of the first Sylva Project Validation Center in the Americas, dedicated to certifying and testing next-generation virtualized network functions.

Sylva is a Linux Foundation Europe project building an open source, production-grade telco cloud stack for telecom and edge use cases. Backed by leading European operators and vendors, Sylva provides a common cloud software framework, reference implementation, and validation program to help operators, network function vendors, and cloud providers accelerate cloud-native transformation, improve interoperability, and deploy telco workloads on consistent, compliant infrastructure. The Sylva Validation Center inaugurated in Santiago, Chile, is a testing environment designed to evaluate and certify the compatibility of cloud-native network functions (CNFs) on top of the Sylva framework and, consequently, across all Telco Clouds compliant with this architecture. Its mission is to ensure reliable, interoperable, and high-performance deployments for mission-critical environments.

The role of integrator and Telco Cloud provider is essential for many telecom operators implementing a horizontal cloud strategy. Through its validation center, Whitestack demonstrates its capability to onboard CNFs from multiple vendors, with Sylva acting as a robust Telco Cloud solution,” said Guillaume Nevicato, Orange Telco Cloud Product Manager and Sylva Technical Steering Committee (TSC) Co-Chair.

As part of this initiative, Whitestack has deployed validation infrastructure powered by AMD EPYC processors, becoming the first Sylva Validation Center to operate on this hardware configuration.

Infrastructure is a key element in accelerating the evolution of cloud-native networks. AMD EPYC processors provide the performance, scalability, and enterprise-grade capabilities needed to support validation platforms like the first Sylva Validation Center in the Americas. This collaboration with Whitestack demonstrates how open infrastructure can accelerate the deployment of cloud-native network functions and contribute to the development of more interoperable and efficient telco ecosystems in the region,” said Hiram Monroy, Director Commercial Sales, Spanish LATAM at AMD.

Beyond technical deployments, Whitestack actively contributes to the project through its expertise in open Telco Clouds by developing validation scenarios, executing functional testing, and driving automation for certification processes. Through these efforts, the company reinforces its commitment to open innovation and to building technology ecosystems that reduce vendor lock-in and foster collaboration.

For Whitestack, becoming a Sylva Validation Center is a tangible way to bring our vision to life: accelerating operators’ digital transformation through open, collaborative, and community-validated platforms. This benefits operators by providing a standardized way to deploy network functions while completely abstracting the infrastructure layer,” said Sergio Tarazona, Solutions and Architecture Manager at Whitestack.

The company also maintains active participation in Sylva working groups and committees, contributing its perspective and expertise to the definition of the guidelines that will shape the next generations of Telco software and applications.

The traditional model, where every network function must be certified with every cloud provider, simply does not scale. It creates lock-in and moves us away from the core principles of cloud nativeness. With Sylva, we can standardize the deployment of CNFs across homogeneous environments, establishing a common foundation that the entire industry recognizes as a cornerstone for accelerating innovation,” said José Miguel Guzmán, Business Development Manager at Whitestack.

Through this participation, Whitestack reinforces its role as a technology leader in the region, bringing the Latin American voice to a global project that will define the future of telco infrastructure based on open standards.

About Whitestack

Whitestack is a leading company in the production deployment of open-source-based solutions, with a strong focus on the telecommunications industry. Its Telco Cloud platform enables the seamless deployment of both VNFs (virtual machine-based) and CNFs (container-based), using industry-standard deployment models. The platform is proven in production, widely deployed, and certified on hardware platforms from HPE, Dell, and others.

Whitestack’s Open Networking solutions are transforming network infrastructure. They enable the deployment of open DC fabrics with advanced Spine & Leaf architectures, while enhancing optical access and aggregation networks with innovative open switches (white boxes), all seamlessly managed through its proprietary SDN controller (WhiteSDN) for automated network provisioning.
