Whitestack Telco Cloud is Now Available on HPE ProLiant Servers to Optimize NFV Deployments

Telco Cloud is Now Available on HPE

The combined Whitestack and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) solution, deployed for several tier one operators, delivers high performance and efficiency while reducing TCO.

Santa Clara, CA, March 29, 2023: Whitestack announced that its Whitestack Telco Cloud is now available on HPE ProLiant servers and validated using the HPE Telco Reference Configuration, that simplifies the BOM by defining standardized deployment.

Whitestack Telco Cloud offers an alternative to other cloud solutions because it is able to offer a complete solution (from infrastructure to orchestrator, for VNFs and CNFs), and because its automated deployment model translates to a reduced TCO. Its Telco Cloud solution is deployed in several Tier-1 data centers utilizing HPE ProLiant servers.

“Operators are moving from the ubiquitous enterprise form-factors, to more robust, dense and energy efficient rackable solutions, such as the HPE ProLiant DL380 servers, that allows not only abundant all-flash storage, but also accommodates a large number of optical ports, as required for traffic-intensive network functions. At the end, in large deployments, it is an equation between Capex, Opex and flexibility”, said José Miguel Guzmán, Telco Cloud Business Development Manager, Whitestack.

Whitestack Telco Cloud can be deployed in three predefined standardized layouts:

  • A “small” model, targeting POCs or Lab environments, using only 10 RUs.
  • A “medium” model, targeting edge sites, by using half-a-rack.
  • A “large” model, targeting regional or national data centers, that grows in modules up to 16 racks (per block).

In each deployment model, specific server roles are predefined, with configurations that maximize storage density (for storage nodes), networking throughput (for networking nodes) or cores & RAM density (for compute nodes). This allows the extraction of the maximum compute power from space and energy constrained sites.

“HPE has been collaborating with Whitestack in multiple projects, showing agility to adapt to the most recent hardware components, such as the Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors, or the Intel® 800 Series Network Adapters (up to 100GbE)”, said Jean-Charles Doineau, HPE Telco Cloud infrastructure solutions director. “A Telco Reference Configuration provides validated BOMs for different deployment models, that simplifies the procurement decision for each expansion phase.”
