Whitestack and Sylva Launch the First Network Function Validation Center in the Americas

Santiago, October 1, 2025: Whitestack, a leading Latin American company in building Clouds based on open technologies, announces the creation of the first Sylva Validation Center in the Americas, dedicated to certifying and testing next-generation virtualized network functions.

The Sylva project, an initiative of Linux Foundation Europe, drives the adoption of open, interoperable, telco-grade architectures across the global telecommunications ecosystem. On one hand, it defines the architectures that future Telco Clouds should follow; on the other, it establishes the guidelines network functions must meet to be deployed in a standardized way by telecommunications operators.

The Sylva Validation Center being inaugurated in Santiago, Chile, is a testing environment designed to evaluate and certify the compatibility of cloud-native network functions (CNFs) with Sylva’s framework and, by extension, with all Telco Clouds adhering to this architecture. Its mission is to ensure reliable, interoperable, and high-performance implementations in mission-critical environments.

“The role of integrator and Telco Cloud provider is essential for many Telco operators implementing a horizontal cloud strategy. Whitestack, through its validation center, demonstrates their ability to onboard multi-vendor CNFs, with Sylva serving as a robust Telco Cloud solution.”

In this context, Whitestack has deployed validation infrastructure featuring Dell PowerEdge servers and AMD EPYC processors, becoming the first Sylva validation center with this type of hardware. This infrastructure enables the validation of next-generation network functions on AMD processors.

Beyond the technical deployments, Whitestack actively contributes to the project with its expertise in open Telco Clouds, developing validation scenarios, conducting functional tests, and driving the automation of certification processes. Through these efforts, the company reaffirms its commitment to open innovation and the creation of technology ecosystems that reduce vendor lock-in and foster collaboration.

“For Whitestack, serving as a Sylva Validation Center is a concrete way to bring our vision to life: accelerating operators’ digital transformation through open, collaborative platforms validated by the community. This benefits operators by providing a standardized way to implement their network functions, fully abstracted from the infrastructure layer.”

The company also maintains an active role in Sylva’s working groups and committees, contributing its perspective and expertise to the definition of guidelines that will shape the next generation of telco software and applications.

“The traditional model, where every network function must be certified for each cloud provider, simply doesn’t scale. It creates bottlenecks and moves us away from the fundamental principles of cloud nativeness. With Sylva, we can standardize the deployment of VNFs and CNFs in homogeneous environments, establishing a common foundation the entire industry recognizes as a cornerstone for accelerating innovation.”

Through this participation, Whitestack reinforces its role as a technological leader in the region, bringing a Latin American perspective to a global project that will define the future of telco infrastructure based on open standards.
